Sharpening the Saw: Looking Forward

“My wish for you this Holiday Season, regardless of your beliefs, is that you take the time to continue your holiday traditions.”

Dear Santa,

I hope this message finds you well – feeling healthy, enjoying your Holiday prep time, and staying warm and cozy.  I love this time of year!!  Our family celebrates Christmas so I enjoy the lights, the Christmas tree, and the smell of cookies and Frasier Fir candles.  I was fortunate and have very fond memories of Christmas when I was a child, and I enjoy carrying on these traditions for our family … and honestly, for myself too.  Those that know me will remember that I love to whistle and sing Christmas music – all year long!  I know it’s probably annoying, but it brings happy and warm memories to mind.

I believe that at this time of year, maybe more than any other, we look forward with hope and possibilities.  It’s this looking forward that excites and energizes all of us.

  • We look forward to seeing our family and friends and spending quality time with them.  I love just sitting down in the kitchen, having a cup of coffee, getting out some homemade cookies and reconnecting.
  • We look forward to time off from our work as a chance to refresh and restore our souls.
  • For those of us in business, we look forward to a new year, refreshed strategy, and the possibilities that a new year brings.
  • We look forward to the excitement of presents. I enjoy buying or making presents and thinking about how much fun it will be to give them to my loved ones.  Heck, when the kids wake up Christmas morning, Santa still brings them an annual treasure hunt that leads to a present from him … and even though they are in their twenties, they still love doing it.

My wish for you this Holiday Season, regardless of your beliefs, is that you take the time to continue your holiday traditions. Take the time to look into the eyes of your loved ones, see the possibilities in them, and reconnect and refresh your relationships.  And, most importantly, take time for yourself. Slow down, breathe in the joy and excitement, and look forward to all the possibilities around you.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and the Happiest of Holidays to you and your family,
