As a software testing company, we’ve been to more conferences than we can count. We’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly—and we’re here to tell you: whether you’re a tester, test lead, scrum master, director, or CIO, QA or the Highway is definitely worth your time!

If you’re a regular reader of this blog or know us at all, you’re probably aware of the fact that we’re common fixtures at some of the biggest IT events in the industry. From stalwarts like StarEast, Oracle OpenWorld, and IRCE to local events like comSpark, OhTec, and a Taste of IT, you can consider us veritable connoisseurs of the IT event scene.
And we’re here to tell you: if you’re involved in software testing in any way, shape, or form, you really need to check out QA or the Highway. It’ll be right up your alley—because it was built for software testers by software testers.
Despite the fact that our industry is expected to grow to $55.3 billion by 2021, events like QA or the Highway aren’t exactly commonplace. Sure, there are a couple of week-long events like StarEast and QUEST (where we’ll be presenting this year); but single-day, testing-centric events are too far and few between. That’s a darn shame—because, frankly, they’re far easier for entire teams to attend.
That’s exactly what makes QA or the Highway so great. We attended this year’s event in late February and weren’t just floored by how many people were there, but by how many titles and teams we saw in attendance. Testers, automation engineers, scrum masters, test leads, Directors of Quality, CIOs… they were all there—and most of the time together.
But attendance quantity means nothing if it’s not met with quality sessions to capture everyone’s interest and imagination, and the sessions more than delivered. This year’s show featured 29 different talks—including a particularly fascinating keynote on the emotional “requirements” involved in software and QA!
Unfortunately, there is one slight catch: the next event won’t be until February 2019. But, on the bright side, at least you’ll have plenty of time to convince your boss to send you and your team! Plus, it’s in Columbus, Ohio—little more than an hour from our primary office—so you can come by and see us afterwards!
Cheers,
Mike Hodge
